About the Author

Stephen Abraham was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 1969. He has had a fascination with the Holocaust theme since he was a young boy. In 1989, he toured Auschwitz and stood beneath the Arbeit Macht Frei gates. Since that very moment, every story and movie foretold resonated in his skin, as if he was there.

In 2009, he was at the holocaust centre in Cape Town when he found a postcard addressed to his grandfather on the wall. He was accompanied by his youngest son who is named after him. The discovery was the impetus for beginning his research and the raw material to begin writing a novel. As he found out, there is no such thing as a coincidence.

Do not be put off by the title: “The Purpose of Killing a Jew – A Lithuanian love story.” [It is a gentle love story set in a brutal holocaust backdrop.] 90% of Jews in South Africa are descendants from Lithuania.

Stephen has a B.Sc. in computer science as well as an MBA from UCT.
