“Did you see that? Did you see that?” she squealed, chewing on a thread of hay. “Did you? T’was so loud.”
“Yup, sure did,” he replied. “Someday I’m gonna fly like that, Birdy. I tell ya, I’m gonna rip through the sky,” he said grabbing the strand.
“You can do anything, Davie-boy,” she said, closing her eyes and breathing in the fresh grassy smells. “Like a bird. If you gonna fly, best you take me with,” she said, moving her hand into the gentle breeze like a plane swooping through the sky. “I wanna fly too.”
